Yesterday I celebrated my very first summer birthday! It was very exciting to say the least! It was an absolutely gorgeous, but very hot day at about 85-90 degrees. Thank goodness for the swimming pool in my backyard! I had some of my closet Chilean friends and of course my exchange friends over to help me celebrate! Lots of swimming and being pushed in with your clothes on. All fun and games! It was a great afternoon filled with lots of laughs. I felt weird not being in school and not having to bundle up and look at snow outside like I am used to! But I liked it!
In preparation for my birthday, the night before my exchange student friend, Beret, helped me bake an American birthday cake as we ate the classic American frozen pizza. Beyond delicious, it hit the spot! All of my Chilean friends were very impressed with the cake that we had baked with the purple frosting! It wouldn't feel like a birthday without one! I also had my turn at the Chilean tradition. As the birthday girl you get to take a bite out of your cake and as your taking a bite my host brother pushed my face into the cake. Classic. A tradition I think I may just have to bring to my family in the States!
Overall a very memorable day with great friends and family! My 17th birthday will never be forgotten!
Feliz Cumpleanos! Happy Birthday again, Emma!! Glad that it was a fun summer birthday with friends. I like the cake tradition - let's start with Justin!! Love, love, love you - Mom
